Many of us aren't a fan of riding a motorcycle due to certain safety issues, however, there are a lot more you can gain from a motorcycle as compared with four-wheel vehicles such as cars. An example is the cost-efficiency as well as the ease of maintaining a motorcycle. It also takes up less fuel not like in a car.

One of their advantages is that motorcycles are much smaller than their four wheel counterparts. They are easier to control and navigate through city traffic. Among these kinds of motorcycles, mopeds are one of the best.

This type of motorcycle generates less power and can even be manually driven with the use of pedals by just a flick of the switch. The term moped is derived from two words "motor" and "pedal" mixed together.

Moped motorcycles have numerous gains over the ordinary motorcycle. Due to their petite size and low engine power capability, mopeds are excluded from safety policies as well as licensing costs which are required for bigger motorcycles.

Moped motorcycles also require less fuel for them to run. Despite the fact that they are unable to attain speeds of 40mi/hr, this kind of motorcycle can travel up to 220 miles on a single fuel tank. This has made moped motorcycles very popular and ideal due to the present day dilemmas of power crisis.

In the United States, the popularity of the moped has diminished. This is due to the introduction of more fuel efficient cars and the lowering of gas prices.

Still, in many countries, these vehicles are very popular, especially among teenagers and young people. That's because the legal driving age for a moped motorcycle is usually lower than that for larger motorcycles or cars. Due to their small size and low engine power, they are generally safer than full sized bikes.

Many countries use moped motorcycles for a variety of practical purposes. For example, in Thailand, Vietnam and Malaysia, mopeds are used as short distance delivery vehicles. Baskets are strapped to either the front or the rear where goods can be placed. Due to their small size, they can weave in and out of heavy traffic quite easily.

Furthermore, mopeds are widely popular in these countries to such a point that some stores even allot parking spots just for these vehicles.

In the Philippines, these vehicles are given a touch of artistic designs by strapping accessories such as stereo systems and neon lights which make even this boring vehicle shine. However, it is also used for a bad and illegal purpose which is street racing.

Mopeds are a very convenient means of transport. However, it is important to check the country's laws and regulations before driving these motorcycles.
